*** (purgatory walk)

They walk in a slumber,
dreaming of past lives and loves long lost.
With every step getting closer to absolute,
to the abyss, to the end.

Perished souls that ache to live,
closed off in a hell without a gate.
With every breath they get closer to the watcher,
to mighty architect, to devil himself.

As the pitch black darkness swallows them whole,
weeping and whimpering goes on and on.
For all have understood now as they get closer to his post,
his throne, his world – it’s the last stop for them all.

And only freedom is before me as I look down into the pit.

For you it is a pitch black hole.
For me it is a blue sky, filled with birds and innocent clouds.

Those who are truly free.

Our sins scream so loud you can’t hear it on Earth.
Only in the deepest abyssal void of hell He collects them.

Whispered in your dreams, the guilty consciousness of your brain
drains the sorrows of the heart.
Straight to the gutter of the world.

I’m breaking through the walls to reach you.
I slither along the floor to kiss your feet.
I hang on to ceiling like a bat watchful.
I prey on your untold fears, feast for the crows as it is.

Will you accept me into your soul?
If you forget me, know that I won’t leave you alone.
When I take you into iron tight grip I won’t let go.
Know this as you tremble and shy away.

Know that I am here, scratching behind the peeling paint.
Be aware that I hear your ludicrous prayers.
Take into account that I laugh at you when you are on your knees.
Be watchful even in your dreams.

For I am guilt.
And nothing washes me away.

While I was walking amongst the ruin,
Passing by a perfect depth of human lives.

I saw a night bane, who looked at me and cackled,
Her laugh was like a cutting sound of a heavy closing gates.

She startled my thoughts and glued me in tar,
Her abyssal wings pushed me to the exile.

I moved to flee the insane cackle,
I dreaded the time we will meet and dance.

For a friend awaits for us all,
For Death knows only an eternal end.

Soft touch of my bare soles leaves the circles of destiny breaking calm surface of water.
I steel myself for the upcoming hurricane of emotions.
I uncover my soul on the altar of truth.
Slim chance of becoming a traitor of my own desire.
Propelling me to swim naked to the shore of my shameful weakness.

The skeletons in my closet touch the flesh of my guilt.

I come undone as I yearn for forgiveness,
stealing glances at the purity of your soul.

My fantasy is a blessing in the moonlight,
a chalice of despair tipped to spill all needs.

My journey is perdition to reach the end of will.

light & shadow

Like a shadow I stalk you,
Like a sun you burn me,
My parched throat calls out to you,
Though only darkness emerge.

I seek and you run,
I chase and you hide,
I cover the Earth in search,
You drown in the abyss as to not let me in.

Like night I come and go,
Like day you wait and lay low,
My heart aches and breaks,
You listen and linger patiently and stealthly.

I seek and you run,
I chase and you hide,
I cover the Cosmos in searh,
You drown in the stars as to not let me in.

Daily Prompt: The Zone

Tell us about your favorite way to get lost in a simple activity — running, chopping vegetables, folding laundry, whatever. What’s it like when you’re in “the zone”?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us LOST.

When you stopped caring my heart stopped beating.

When you turned your back to me I lost my sight.

When you shut your ears to the sounds I made I was at a loss for words.

When you pushed my hand away I fell far and painfully.

When will I close the aching gap you left?

When will I feel whole again?

You let go of my hand and let me lose myself.

I felt lost. I was lost. I am lost.
