A. loved to wake up in her bed at her grandparents’ house. It was so different from the cold and antic mansion where she lived with her parents.
Here she could smell the sweat aroma of homemade breakfast wafting through the window. Her grandmother was baking sweet muffins with cinnamon which will later be served with tea. A. could smell them in her room because it was located directly above the kitchen. And since it was summer, all windows were open and the scents could mingle freely.
She always knew what she would be eating for breakfast and that knowledge was comforting and set her at peace.
